Practice updates
Ear Irrigation
As per 'NHS Fife Wide Procedure for Ear Care including Examination and Irrigation', ear irrigation will only be carried out after a minimum of 4-weeks of the patient applying drops to soften wax
When cerumen (earwax) is observed on examination the patient will be advised to soften wax with olive oil, sodium bicarbonate or other cerumenolytic ear drops, two drops twice daily for 4 – 6 weeks.
Sodium Bicarbonate may be used but these can cause dryness.

Appointment System Update
In order to be effective, prevent risks and to continue our commitment to high-quality patient care, we are introducing a cap to the number of triage requests we can safely deal with each day. Triage will close each day once the cap is reached or at 10:00, whichever occurs first.
When fully staffed the cap will be Mon/Tue/Wed 100 triage requests, Thur 90 triage requests, and Fri 80 triage requests. You can assist with triage appointment availability by utilising the most appropriate NHS service - staff can signpost you to the most appropriate service based on your problem.
